In 2013 I heard about the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, the conference had already taken place for that year but the idea of being invited to the conference in the future sparked my interest. Disney Social Media Moms Celebration is an invitation only conference sponsored by Disney Parks and a variety of other sponsors including Hanes and Alamo.
I learned about the “On the Road” version of the conference and knew that I had to be a part of it. Disney Social Media Moms Celebration On the Road is a 1/2 day conference in select areas around the United States.
I attended the 2013 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, On the Road in Berkeley, CA and it was the first blogger conference I had ever attended. I didn’t know anyone, my business cards weren’t awesome, I didn’t really have my brand established but I went anyway. I was terrified but I introduced myself to as many people as I could, learned about their blog and I even got the nerve to introduce myself to the Disney PR team.
What happened next would change my life forever.
I meet the most wonderful people at the conference and we are all still friends to this day. After the conference we continued learning about each other and growing our friendships. Attending that conference brought me so much Pixie Dust; and two years later I am still glowing.
I am sure that if you ask other bloggers from around the United States they will tell you the same thing about the people they have met at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebrations and the On the Road versions. They have formed friendships that they would have never discovered if it wasn’t for attending the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.
When we travel to other conferences or to the Disney Parks we plan to meet up, I like to call them my Pixie Dust network.
Not only do we meet up when we travel, but we involve each other in our blogging opportunities, support each other’s business ventures and we are there for each other when we need virtual hugs. We all write about Disney as well as other topics on our blog, which I think makes us a good balanced group of friends.
These women truly are my friends.
If you are curious who they are you can find them online at:
(listed in order of their picture above)
- Growing Up Goofy with Cam Bowman
- Me… 😉
- Mousekatools with Michaelyn Pouncey
- Flowers Croon with Jindy Garfias
- My Adventures in Disneyland with Beth Thorpe
- My No Guilt Life with Patty Holliday
- DisneyGals with Gayle Turner
- Half Crazy Mama with Emelia Cellura
If you have the opportunity to attend a Disney Social Media Moms Celebration On the Road then I suggest buying the plane ticket, find someone to take care of the kids for a day and go to the conference. If I would have chickened out and not gone to the Berkeley event I would have never found my Pixie Dust network.
Since attending the Berkeley event I was invited to the 2014 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration at the Disneyland Resort, the On the Road in Phoenix and the 2015 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration at the Walt Disney World Resort. Disclosure: I was invited to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in Orlando, Fl in May 2015. I paid for my own conference registration, transportation and meals. No other compensation was paid to me for my review and all opinions are my own.
