I don’t know about you, but when I am at an aquarium I feel calm, maybe it’s because the idea of floating around in a tank of water sounds relaxing and a nice break from my kids.
If you feel this way too or your kids LOVE sea life and specifically Nemo then The Seas with Nemo and Friends is THE place for your family when you visit EPCOT.
Nemo and Dory have a lot of friends in the sea and you can meet them all at The Seas with Nemo & Friends located at EPCOT in Future World.
Here you can spend a good part of your day exploring the undersea world with Nemo and his friends. There are attractions as well as small and large aquarium fish tanks providing your family with hours of undersea entertainment. I am sure your kids will LOVE finding Dory and Nemo.
Be sure to also see Crush at Turtle Talk with Crush and ride on The Seas with Nemo and Friends attraction. This fun ride is based on Disney Pixar’s Finding Nemo.
When you enter the lobby area it feels like a large research center with a lot of different places for your family to explore. I saw kids running from room to room with excitement at all of the fun sea life they were finding.
The Undersea viewing area is one of my favorite places to hang out. It is filled with 5.7-million-gallons of saltwater that provides you with a 360 degree view of a variety of sea life such as sea turtles, sharks, manta rays and many more.
While on my trip we were taken to the top of the tank and were given a brief overview of the animal training that takes place at EPCOT. I really just wanted to jump in the tank and float around, it looked pretty neat.
A really interesting activity to watch when in the Undersea area is the animal training. At Walt Disney World they train their animals in a variety of ways so that they can access them safely for the trainer and animal. To do this they train the animal to do specific tasks in order to get a reward.
For a rhino it might be to back up on command and for a manta ray it is to hold on to the plastic board with the diver. This ensures that during a routine examination the animal and the trainer are both in a safe situation.
I thought this was very interesting because the Dolphins have recorder devices on them and you can actually hear the two dolphins communicating with each other during the training tasks they must complete.
I was gifted this adorable Dive Buddy badge from the folks at Disney, this is certainly something I will keep forever. Mickey looks SO cute in his scuba gear.
If you want to be like Mickey and put on your scuba gear and jump get into the tank you can! EPCOT offers a few tours that will allow you to swim with the sea life.
During the EPCOT DiveQuest you get 40 minutes of dive time in the tank, but you must be SCUBA certified to participate. On the tour you will spend time backstage learning all about how Disney operates their massive aquarium.
