Our family purchased a Beazer Home a few months ago and loved the Choice Plans concept. In our model there were several choices available. There were two kitchen layouts, a choice between a bedroom and a loft, and a sitting room off the master or a bedroom. We chose Kitchen B, a loft, and the bedroom. The best part is there was no extra charge for any of these layouts.
As a family, we discussed which choices would be best for us. The loft choice met our needs. It helped open up the space on the second level and would be a room the entire family could use.
Once we moved in and set up the room, we felt like it needed a few extra touches to make it unique. We decided that painting the room would be a fun project for the whole family.
Color Selection Tools
We visited our local Sherwin-Williams store to start the color selection process. There are many colors to choose from, it can be a very overwhelming process but with the help of their staff we were able to narrow it down to a few color families.
In addition to help in their stores, Sherwin-Williams offers many tools to help with the color selection process. We downloaded the ColorSnap Studio app on our iPad. This was helpful because we were able to take pictures of the space and add the Sherwin-Williams paint colors on the walls virtually. This allowed us to see the entire space with our choice of colors.
Once we finally narrowed down our choices we taped the last few of them up on the wall and discussed it as a family. Our color choices were in the Green family because it seemed to go well with our carpet, existing furniture and the surrounding open.
The color we ended up selecting was called Gratifying Green (SW 6435). Emerald Interior is self priming with a smooth, uniform appearance.
Finally, painting day arrived, but first we had to do some prep work. We moved out all of the furniture, taped off the baseboards and covered the floors. We picked up the paint and supplies at our local Sherwin-Williams store.
Our girls were a big help with this too. They were happy to help with any task we gave them . We made sure that the tasks were not overwhelming, but just enough so that they felt like they were helping out and not stressed out by the overall project.
Our painting process was fun, we also involved our girls in the project by showing them how to use a roller and a paint brush. Now that the project is finished they have pride and more ownership of the space because they helped bring it to life.
The entire process took us a couple days to complete and we are so happy with the results. The Emerald Interior Paint covered the space beautifully.
Check out our fun family video of the whole project.

Our inspiration was to create a space that the whole family could enjoy and looked great with the surrounding open space.
