Sabrina Carpenter is Disney’s Next Big Thing

I’ll be the first to admit that my girls (ages 4 & 8) are Disney Channel junkies and recently they had to say good bye to two of their favorite shows Goodluck Charlie and Shake it Up. Even I was a little teary eyed when Good Luck Charlie ended. My husband and I enjoyed watching the show with them but it is obvious when a show has runs its course.

My family and I attended Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in Disneyland and we were treated to a nice Saturday morning hosted by Disney Junior that was packed with surprises.

One of those surprises actually arrived the night before at our hotel room and it was a CD by Sabrina Carpenter.
The CD contains 4 songs:

  • Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying
  • The Middle of Starting Over
  • White Flag
  • Best Thing I Got

Sabrina Carpenter CD

I’ll admit, I had no idea who she was and so I Googled her. Come to find out she is co-staring as Maya Hart in the highly anticipated new Disney Channel show Girl Meets World which is a spin off of Boy Meets World which ended in 2000.

I was not an avid watcher of Boy Meets World in the 90’s, I think I was too old for the show at the time but I am familiar with the actors and the characters. I am excited for my girls to be able to watch the new show as I think they will really like it.

The show premieres on June 27th right after Zendaya’s movie Zapped on the Disney Channel at 8pm. I can pretty much guarantee where my girls will be on June 27th.

About Girl Meets World

Cory and Topanga Matthews (from Boy Meets World) are now married and have two children. Their daughter, Riley (played by Rowan Blanchard) experiences the same issues her parents did in school and life growing up in middle school. Along by her side in her adventures is her best friend Maya Hart played by Sabrina Carpenter.

Sabrina and Rowan teamed up together to record the theme song for Girl Meets World titled, “Take On The World”

So who is Sabrina Carpenter?

During the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration we were honored to be present at a performance by Sabrina Carpenter during the Saturday Breakfast hosted by Disney Junior. She started singing and I looked over at my husband and said “watch out world, here comes Disney’s next big thing.” Her voice is sweet like Bridget Mendler and her personality is cute too. With a role on one of Disney Channel’s most anticipated new shows Sabrina is sure to be blasted off to stardom soon.

Sabrina Carpenter Performing at Disney Social Media Moms - #DisneySMMoms

My daughter’s most coveted item from Disney Social Media Moms Celebration is Sabrina’s CD and she listens to the songs all the time. Sabrina’s tracks aren’t just for kiddos; I even enjoy listening to the songs at work.

These are some lyrics from one of my favorite songs on her album called “Middle of Starting Over”

I’m in the middle of starting over
Back to the beginning
Gonna hit rewind
Chance to do it over
Get it right this time
Life gives you pennies
Turn them into dimes
I’m in the middle of starting over

I like it because it is a positive song about making a mistake and starting over. We all make mistakes no matter who we are and we need to realized that we need to pick ourselves up and start over and try again. This is a good message for kids (and adults) because it shows them that they are not perfect and mistakes can happen but you can fix them if you are willing to start over and make it right.

If it wasn’t for seeing Sabrina Carpenter perform live at Disney Social Media Moms Celebration I would have never known how awesome she is. I am so thankful that my girls were there to see her too.

The album’s title song “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying” is currently in heavy rotation on Radio Disney. You can learn more about her album on her website at www.SabrinaCarpetner.com or on iTunes

I will be writing more blogs about my exciting time at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration so check back often for new posts. Disclosure: I was invited to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in Disneyland. I paid my own conference fees and received gifts during the conference. All opinions, experiences and thoughts are my own.
