Maleficent is my favorite Disney villain and I am really excited to see the new movie MALEFICENT when it opens on May 30th. I am going to skip the media screening in my hometown next week because I want to go with my family and experience it together…ok except for my four year old. She was scared during the Lego movie so she gets to go to her Auntie’s house and play with her cousin.
I was honored to be able to meet Maleficent at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in April 2014. This was the first time I’ve ever seen Maleficent up close so I was pretty jazzed to see her. I decided to give her some attitude when I took the picture.
Elle Fanning (Princess Aurora) was also at Disney Social Media Moms and celebrated her 16th birthday while there promoting the movie. We were getting ready to sing “Happy Birthday” to her when Maleficent made a grand entrance. “Well, Well…”
Get Your Maleficent Merchandise
No movie release is complete without a little themed merchandise so I am headed to Toys R Us this weekend to pick up the Maleficent light up horns. I already have my Mickey Mouse / Maleficent ears from Disneyland but I really want a pair of these babies and they are only $9.99!!
I already have several Maleficent T-shirts and I know which one I am going to wear at the movie but if you need one check out the Disney Store and be sure to see the new Stella McCartney Maleficent collection. There are some really cute shirts and merchandise at Hot Topic too.
About the Movie
“Maleficent” explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.
