As a child of the 70’s I was obsessed with my Peter and the Wolf Read-Along Book and Record. Most times I would just listen to the record and enjoy the music. The story of Peter and the Wolf is a great way to introduce kids to Classical music because I know when I was younger I loved it. Little did I know at the time but I was enjoying classical music.
When I heard there was a storybook app with a twist on this beloved story called Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood I was excited to explore it with my six-year-old daughter. Once she started the app I was instantly transported back to my childhood, sitting in the middle of my room on a sunny afternoon listening to my record player.
In this version of the story you will still find a duck, a bird, a cat, grandpa, Peter and of course a the wolf. The same great music exists as well as new music. You will be delighted by the twists in the story and the interactive fun of the storybook app. Your child can play 8 different games, in one game they can even build a robot to help Peter track down the wolf.
All of the characters are narrated by Alice Cooper, yes THAT Alice Cooper! With each character he transforms his voice and makes them unique.
The sets for the story are all handmade for the digital storybook. These images are stunning. Every part of the story is a mix of photography and handmade sets and hand drawn art. The project took at total of 18 Months from start to finish.
The National Youth Orchestra of Germany recorded the music for Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood with over 50 minutes of music by Prokofiev, Wagner, and Mahler. In this new version additional music is used to help set the mood in the new Hollywood setting.
