Robin Williams was a man of many talents and made us all laugh in his numerous roles. To hear the news that he has passed breaks my heart. I am a big fan of his work and I am very sad to hear of his passing. According to ABC News he was found dead in his home of an apparent suicide at the age of 63.
He was named a Disney Legend in 2009 and leaves behind a body of work that will continue to be a source of laughs for years to come. His many roles included Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting, The Fisher King, and Popeye and those are just a few of his numerous roles.
I will remember him as two characters in my life. First as Mork from Ork. As a child of the 80’s I watch Mork and Mindy ever week and thought he was so funny. I even had a swim suit inspired by Mork’s striped shirt with rainbow suspenders.
Secondly, as Genie. The Genie from Aladdin was such an awesome role for him because it was his jokes that really made the role of the Genie a memorable one. I bet the animators loved working on his character for the movie.
If you ever get the chance to visit the Disney Legends Plaza in Burbank you can see Robin’s handprints.
Forever in our hearts and on our screens – R.I.P. Robin Williams.
