“Let It Go” Wins Best Song at the 86th Academy Awards

“Frozen” won big at the 86th annual Academy Awards which aired on Sunday March 2, 2014. The movie was nominated and won for Best Animated movie and Best Original Song. It also surpassed $1 Billion at the box office world-wide on Sunday.

Idina Menzel performed “Let It Go” live at the Oscars. If you missed her breathtaking performance you can view it here. (I had trouble viewing it in Firefox, so if it doesn’t work for you try viewing it with Internet Explorer)

Here is the clever and cute acceptance speech from song writers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez

On Monday, March 3rd Idina Menzel appeared on the Tonight Show and performed “Let It Go” again. However, this time she performed with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots using kids classroom instruments. I also read that the blocks that Jimmy is using are borrowed from his baby girl, ahh so sweet.

I saw Idina Menzel perform “Let It Go” in August during the D23 Expo. As she sang the song I cried. First, I was watching Idina Menzel perform live and secondly the song she was singing was magical. As I listened to the words of the now famous “Let It Go” for the first time I could not hold back any emotions because it was THAT powerful. I walked out of that arena in awe at what I had just heard.

Here is a portion of her performance captured by Inside the Magic from August 9, 2013 from the D23 Expo

This was my status update after I saw her performance.

What do you think? Where you surprised by the win for Best Animated Movie or Best Original song?
