Just before Christmas I received the most amazing email EVER. I was on my way home from work, I got into the car and I glanced at my phone. I saw an email with the subject line “Re: Disney/Pixar & Touchstone Pictures Invite You to San Francisco.”
When I receive an email from Susan at 5 Minutes for Mom with this subject line “Disney would like to invite you to…..” I know it means one thing, I need to clear my schedule because I’m about to embark on an adventure.
I was running late picking my up my girls from school but there was no way I was going to wait until I got home to read this email. I sat in my car and quickly read the email, I was in shock and I couldn’t believe what I just read.
Needing some time to process the details in the email I picked up my girls from school and didn’t tell them anything. I had to keep the excitement to myself until we got home because I wanted to tell my girls and my husband at the same time. Seriously though, how do you just blurt out “I’m going to Skywalker Ranch!” without passing out from excitement?
When we got home I shared the exciting news with my family and I cried happy little tears, my husband was in awe and I think he stumbled around the room a bit. I had him read the email instead of telling him because I wanted him to feel the same wash of excitement I felt when I read it. The girls were excited too because I was excited and they love to hear about my blogger tour adventures. 😉
On January 12-13, 2015 I will be representing 5 Minutes for Mom and joining 24 other fabulous bloggers to visit Skywalker Ranch in Marin. I am a fan of Star Wars and to be able to visit Skywalker Ranch is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am very excited to be able to share my adventure with you.
Skywalker Ranch is located 40 miles North of San Francisco and is the home Skywalker Sound. Skywalker Sound occupies the 153,000-square-foot Technical Building, which features a world-class scoring stage, six mix studios, ADR and Foley stages, 34 editing suites, and a 300-seat screening room. The property also includes the iconic Main House and the beautiful Lake Ewok.
While there we will screen the new Touchstone Pictures’ STRANGE MAGIC. The movie comes from the mind of George Lucas and Lucasfilm Ltd.
STRANGE MAGIC is a fairy tale musical adventure inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion.
The animation in STRANGE MAGIC is beautiful and the trailer looks amazing.
While there we will receive a tour of the grounds and interview Director and 7 time Academy Award® winner Gary Rydstrom, and interview Elijah Kelley (“Hairspray,” “Red Tails,” “Lee Daniels’ The Butler”) who voices Sunny in the film.
In addition to all that fabulousness we will also visit Pixar Studios in Emeryville for a reception for INSIDE OUT and a screening of the short film LAVA.
In the movie INSIDE OUT we follow the adventures of Riley. Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco.
INSIDE OUT looks really funny, the trailer is hilarious and my entire family is really excited to see it.
My blog posts for this trip will include a film review of Touchstone Pictures’ STRANGE MAGIC, an interview with Director Gary Rydstrom, an interview with Elijah Kelley, a post about my tour of Skywalker Ranch and a post about my preview of Disney/Pixar’s INSIDE OUT and LAVA.
You can also subscribe to my blog (box in the header) and you will then receive an email when I publish a post. I will also add a link to each post on my Strange Magic Event page.
Disney/Pixar and Touchstone invited me to San Francisco to attend a screening of STRANGE MAGIC and reception for INSIDE OUT. All expenses have been paid by Disney/Pixar and Touchstone, but all opinions are always 100% my own.
