I am not a baker, it is not my number one skill.  Yet I saw these hidden Mickey cupcakes on the DisneyWays.com blog and I knew that I needed to make them. Since I am not a baker I just don’t have the desire to make anything from scratch so I bought a brownie mix and a golden butter cake mix from the store.  I was given two bags of frosting from The Frosting Queens to use for a Pinterest contest so it seemed like a good time to make the cupcakes.

The first step is to watch the video of how to make the Hidden Mickey Cupcakes from How To Cook That because there is a trick to making the Mickey Mouse shape within the cupcake.

You can make these from scratch, check out How To Cook That for the list of ingredients and step by step instructions.  You can also purchase  boxed cupcake and brownie mix like I did.

First you need to make the brownies, try not to over bake them!Hidden Mickey Cupcakes - Brownie Making Process

After they are done you will only need 1/2 of them for the recipe so you can eat the rest of them, yum.  Crumble them up in to a bowl with 1/2 of the cupcake batter and 1/4 cup water.  When we did this they ended up being too watery so we added more brownies and a bit more flour.

Then fill your cupcake holders about 1/2 way.  Then roll a ball of the brownie mixture into a ball and place on top of each cupcake. Hidden Mickey Cupcakes - Mickey's Head Process

This will be a sticky process, we washed our hands a lot.  Then make snake shapes and form them into circles.  These are Mickey’s ears and you put them on top of the ball. (be sure to watch the video…or else what I am saying makes no sense).

Bake the cupcakes according to the directions and let them cool about 15-20 minutes. Then it is time to frost them.  I used The Frosting Queens frosting; it was very fluffy and ready to use.  I just cut the corner of the bag and away we went.

The Frosting Queens Charmed Chocolate and Velvety Vanilla FrostingWe choose to use the Charmed Chocolate  on our Hidden Mickey Cupcakes.  I am picky about the frosting for my cupcakes and this passed my test. Look at how awesome that looks straight out of the bag.

No matter where you cut into the cupcake you will find a Hidden Mickey.  How cute!Hidden Mickey Cupcake

I hope you end up giving these a try, they were a lot of fun to make with my girls.
