My Review

What an awesome ride, I give this movie a 10. Ok, that’s it – go see it. Ha, ok I need to say more about it.

I am not a reader of the comic series so I had no idea how the storyline of Guardians of the Galaxy unfolds. I also don’t read any spoiler reviews before I see a movie, nor do I listen to the soundtrack. I want to be entertained when I see a movie for the first time and enjoy it as it all unfolds before my eyes and ears. 😉

Seeing Guardians of the Galaxy is like a present. It is this new shiny present from Marvel.

With other characters like Captain America (still love him), Spiderman, Iron Man, Hulk etc. we sort of know their stories. But with Guardians of the Galaxy I felt like I was unwrapping a new toy on Christmas morning. This may very well be my favorite Marvel movie so far and that is saying a lot because I really liked Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Solider.

The music was so fantastic, and I do NOT want to spoil anything for you BUT just know that it was quite a treat and I downloaded the soundtrack as I walked out of the theater.

I was entertained during the entire movie. There are new characters to learn about, new galaxies to explore and new stories to uncover.

I’ve heard other people say that this is what it must have been like to see Star Wars or Indiana Jones for the first time. I can’t recall exactly what my reaction was the first time I saw those movies because I was about 10 years old but I vaguely remember seeing Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark at the drive-in and thinking “wow, this is cool”.

When the credits were rolling my husband and I just looked over at each other in awe. We knew that we had just witnessed something awesome.

Thinking about the movie and the characters it was hard for me to pick a favorite one. They all worked together so well and they were a great team. I really loved that about the movie and I am leaning toward Rocket as my favorite character but then again I also like Groot.

Not only is this story about saving the galaxy BUT it is a good lesson in friendship and teamwork.

Be sure to stay until the end of the credits…..a true Marvel fan stays until the end.Stay After the Credits

Should Your Kids See this Movie?

The movie is action packed, includes a lot of jokes that may go over their head BUT they are still funny. However, it is rated PG-13 for a reason and I always suggest consulting the IMDB parental guide to help you make an informed decision about your kids seeing this movie.

I took my almost 9 years old daughter to see the movie and she loved it. She does enjoy action adventure movies such as Star Wars so it also depends on the interests of your child as well. Just because there is a talking raccoon in the movie it may is not suitable for your six-year old. The talking raccoon swears and shoots a really big gun.

So, should your kids see this movie? I say “yes” but only if they are used to seeing action packed movies. Also, if they have seen other Marvel movies and are around 8-years old this should be safe for them to see.

Cast Information

Chris Pratt as Star Lord/Peter Quill. He was fantastic in the role, a great mix of smokin hot, quirky and smart. Can’t wait to see him as Peter Quill for many years to come.

Zoe Saldana as Gamora is a kick-ass green gal who can take care of herself, but has a soft side as well. I am pretty sure my hubby enjoyed watching her on screen. 😉

Dave Bautista as Drax was so powerful in the movie with not only his body but in the end he shows us all what it means to be a friend.

Vin Diesel as Groot proves that just because you are big and strong doesn’t mean you can’t have a soft heart.

Bradley Cooper as Rocket is simply awesome. There is no way to describe a talking raccoon that is a genius and totes around a giant gun AND can fly space ships. He is as unique as they come.
