Disneyland Resort Hotels, Are They Really Worth It?

I know that everyone is on a budget these days and it is hard to swallow a nightly rate of $250+ for a hotel room in Anaheim. However if your really want to stay at a Disney Resort Hotel then I say go for it.

Benefits of Staying On Property
– Easy Access to the parks
– Private Hotel Guest Only Entrance to Disney California Adventure
– Extra Magic Hour – Early Entry To The Park
– In-room safe which is big enough for a laptop
– Disney Character Wake Up Calls
– Pinocchio’s Workshop
– On Site Disney Character Dining (at all 3 hotels)

The most important aspect to staying on property is that the magic never ends.

Disneyland Hotel Lobby

The Disney magic starts from the moment you step out of your car and it never ends when you stay steps away from the Disneyland Resort. Cast Members greet you with a smile and are there to assist with your luggage. Once the lobby doors slide open you can count on a big hug from one of Mickey’s friends such as Pluto, Goofy or Chip and Dale.

Research

Think about what your family needs in a hotel.  Do you need a room with a kitchen? Do you need to be close to the park? Do you need a hotel that has 24 hour room service.  These are all things to consider when booking your hotel room.  For our family the main need we had was to be able to get back to our hotel room during the day as we are traveling with a 3 year old who would need an afternoon nap.

When doing your research, call the front desk of the hotel and ask them how much they charge for each of the items that Disney includes.  I’ve noticed that some hotels will offer Free Parking, but then charge you $10 for the fridge, $9.95 per day for WiFi and $5 per person for their shuttle.  Those fees really start to add up.

Resources

I found these sites helpful when I was shopping around for hotel rates.

Annual Passport Discount

If you are an Annual Passport holder then you are going to get a great deal on a room at the Disneyland Resorts.  You can check the availability and rates of the Disneyland Resorts online at the Annual Passport Holder site.  For more information about Disneyland Annual Passports click here. There are often other perks offered at the Disneyland Resorts for Passport Holders as well.
