Disney Vacation Planning with a Tween – #DisneyTween

While planning our upcoming Disney vacation my 10-year-old daughter said that she didn’t want to get any Disney character autographs or take pictures with them.

I just about died. I was crushed by what she said.

Who WAS this girl talking to me?

She was nuts about Disney characters just a few short years ago. But now, she is in the Tween world and her Disney love is changing.

At 2-years-old, hugging every Disney character she could find.

Still loving Mickey at 8 years old. Got to LOVE her smile.

And now she is a Star Wars loving Tween (can you blame her? Star Wars is pretty darn awesome)

When families plan their vacations, and they have a Tween in the family, they might not always think of the Disneyland Resort as their vacation destination.  However, the Disneyland Resort is perfect for families with kids in a variety of ages because there is something for everyone.

The Disneyland Resort has two parks for your Tween to enjoy. At Disney California Adventure, attractions such as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and California Screamin’ will surely satisfy any thrill seeking Tween. My girl also loves to ride on Goofy’s Sky School but I let her ride single-rider on that one.

In Disneyland there are oodles of attractions for Tweens to enjoy. They can jump into hyperspace on Space Mountain with the new Hyperspace Mountain overlay and enjoy a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens adventure on Star Tours – The Adventures Continue when they visit the planet of Jakku.

Splash MountainBig Thunder Mountain Railroad and Matterhorn Bobsleds are also a favorite of my 10-year-old.

Downtown Disney District also offers Tweens with great shopping and entertainment options such as D Street with a variety of pop culture merchandise, Little Miss Matched offers Tweens a fun way to individualize their style with mismatched socks and quirky apparel. The ESPN Zone Sports Arena offers Tweens 10,000 square feet of sports arcade fun.

Have you been to the Disneyland Resort with your Tween? What attractions do they like?

Even though her Disney live will change over time, no matter how old she gets, she will always love going on Dumbo.
